ROOTS OF BELONGING is a one-day women’s CEREMONIA retreat devoted to ancestry, origins, belonging, and our relationship to the living world — Including the roots that have shaped who we are.
There is a part of us that remembers where we come from.
Before we knew the stories, the names, or the places, we were already part of something larger than ourselves. We arrived through generations of people, relationships, landscapes, choices, losses, traditions, and ways of living that shaped the ground beneath us.
Together, we will gather in women’s council to explore the many ways we experience belonging — to our families and lineages, to the land beneath our feet, to one another, and to the living world.
Our roots are not always simple. Some carry nourishment, wisdom, and love. Others carry stories, patterns, grief, or ways of being that we may choose to transform. To know our roots is not necessarily to hold onto everything that came before us. It is to become more conscious of what we have received, what has shaped us, and what we choose to carry forward.
Throughout the day, we will create space for reflection, embodiment, connection, and renewal through women’s council, earth-based practices, ancestral reflection, song as prayer, elemental connection, seasonal nourishment, and time to gently feel it all and integrate…
We will listen to the wisdom of the living world around us — to earth, water, fire, and air — and allow the natural landscape to become part of our inquiry.
Where do I come from?
What has been carried to me?
What has helped me become who I am?
What am I ready to release?
What wisdom do I want to carry forward?
What kind of roots am I growing for those who come after me?
There will be time to gather, to eat, to soak, to listen, to sing, to speak, and to simply be together — Because belonging is not only about where we come from.
It is also about how we choose to belong now — to ourselves, to one another, to the land, and to the life we are creating.
A DAY IN CEREMONIA
Our day will weave together spaciousness and intentional practice, including:
The Women's Way of Council
A circle for honest reflection, storytelling, deep listening, and witnessing.
Elemental & Earth-Based Practices
Grounded practices that invite relationship with the natural world and the elemental forces that surround and sustain us.
Hot Spring Mineral Baths
Time to soak, soften, restore, and receive the mineral-rich waters of the earth.
Organic Seasonal Lunch
A nourishing meal prepared with seasonal organic ingredients, shared together at the table.
Song as Prayer
Voice, song, and simple devotional practices as ways of expressing gratitude, remembrance, and connection.
Ancestral Reflection
Guided inquiry into our roots of origin, what has been carried through our lineages, and what we consciously choose to carry forward.
Sacred Sisterhood
Unhurried time for connection, conversation, laughter, rest, and simply being together.
Closing Circle
A moment to gather what has been received and honor the day before returning to the world beyond the circle.
ROOTS OF BELONGING invites us into remembrance—not to romanticize the past, but to enter into a more conscious relationship with what we have inherited. Our belonging and becoming are braided together, and we are the ones to tend to the weaving of our being.
